Hollywood Studios - Continued

We found Mama Melrose's and checked in.

I tried to convince the boys to go meet Phineas & Ferb since they are right around the corner, but I got a chorus of "we've already done that."  Yeah, they have.  Two YEARS ago.  It's not like it was yesterday.  Fine.  Be bored while we wait.

It took about 15 minutes before our pager went off.  We weaved through the crowd and were led to our table.

This was our first time eating here.  I like the fact that it looks like a little neighborhood family-run Italian place from the outside, and then they've divided up the inside so it still feels small when you are sitting at your table.

The waitress asked if we were on a dining plan or if we were doing the Fantasmic dinner package or anything special.  Yes to the Fantasmic and Yes to the dining plan.  She explained that at this restaurant, that means that we get to order an appetizer (with the Standard Plan you usually don't) and then they bring out a sampler dessert platter at the end.  Sounds good to me!

I had the fresh mozzarella appetizer.

Brad went with the minestrone.

And Joshua tried the calamari (which he loved).

Daniel didn't get an appetizer.  Since he was ordering off the kid menu, he got to pick dessert instead.

For the main course Joshua and I had the chicken parmigiana (that's how they spell it in the menu).

Brad had the strip steak.

And Daniel had the kid cheese pizza.

I could only eat about two thirds of my chicken and barely touched the spaghetti under it.  Joshua on the other hand...

Where does he put it?    I think it all goes to his feet.  That's why I just had to buy him yet another new (bigger) pair of shoes.

Last came our dessert sampler.

Daniel just had vanilla ice cream, so I didn't think anyone needed a picture of it.

I scanned my Magic Band and entered the code and four TS credits went buh-bye.  She presented us with our tickets for Fantasmic and off we went.

Too full to think about riding anything, we decided to sit and laugh with the Muppets.

I love the Swedish Chef.  "The flim is going der flerdy, flerdy!"

We were on the end of a row, near the exit doors, so we were ahead of the flood of people leaving the theater.  That meant there was almost no line across the street for the Cars Meet and Greet.  Yay!

Our next FP was for Star Tours, so we decided to head in that general direction.  There was only a 10 minute wait for the Great Movie Ride as we passed, so we decided to stop and ride it first.

I remember when this first scene would spin and there were bubbles all over.  Now there is just a scrim with Esther Williams movie scenes projected on it.  Sigh.

Now it was time to use our next FPs.

Daniel was the Rebel Spy!  We got a scenario with Darth Vader and a visit to Hoth and Naboo.  The boys wanted to ride again, so we went back through the standby (wait was about 15 mins) and got Stormtroopers with a visit to Hoth and... I think it is called Coruscant?  Anyway, I enjoy the "not knowing what your story is going to be" aspect of Star Tours now.  I made the boys pose on the speeder across from the exit.

Photo op!

It was after 5pm and Fantasmic was showing at 6:30pm, so we decided to go ahead to the amphitheater.

Once inside, we followed the signs to the Dinner Package seating.

Last time we did this (years and years ago), the dinner package seating was off to the side.  Now?  It is the primo seats in middle.  Woo!

We snacked and enjoyed the pre-show entertainment.

And admired the moon.  Man, was it bright that night!

Eventually it was time for the show to start.  The boys were excited to see their Glow With the Show ears in action.

The last time I saw this show was almost 10 years ago.  I forgot how good it is!

After navigating the mass of people exiting the amphitheater, we headed over to see the Osborne Family Lights.

We stopped under the canopy to watch the "show" and to see what the Glow With the Show ears would do.

Then we got in line for the Photopass photographer at the end of the street.

Quick tip: the line for that photographer is roped off down the side of the street.  You can sorta see the line in the background to the right side of these pictures.  Lots and lots of people wander up like they do for most Photopass photographers, only to be directed to the line.  Don't waste your time wandering and waiting in the middle of the street.  If you want a picture, look for the ropes and get in line.

It was a good day, but we were tired and ready to head "home".

But I spotted another Photopass photographer and...

... you never miss a photo op.  Ever.
